Decibel owner Jesus Martinez is a producer/engineer and requintista (master of the tenor guitar, which he’s playing in the photo above) based in Los Angeles, CA. He began to play latin folk music at a young age and is part of Tres Souls, a trio embracing the sounds of the 1940’s. He gained experience by graduating from Berklee College of Music and has spent many years being a performing musician. Currently he is producing and engineering for the mariachi community in Los Angeles. He opened Decibel Studios in order to capture the authentic sounds of LA.
Jesus started Decibel Studios Presents: The Breakfast Table as a musical series for artists to share their live performances. In this edition with Mary Alfaro Velasco, he graciously chose to use Vanguard mics on…everything! We think it’s a unique opportunity to hear our mics on traditional latin folk instruments. Mary Alfaro Velasco is a guitarist, singer, songwriter and music educator from Los Angeles, California.
