Heritage Audio MIX BUDDY & TUBESTRIP: Two Powerful New Tools for Modern Music Production
Whether you’re recording vocals, building complex synthesizer rigs, performing live, or simply looking to elevate your analogue workflow, Heritage Audio has unveiled two remarkable new products designed to solve real-world production challenges. The new Heritage Audio MIX BUDDY and Heritage Audio TUBESTRIP each serve a different purpose, yet together they form an exceptionally powerful front end for today’s musicians, producers and recording engineers.
Let’s take a closer look at what makes each of these new releases so exciting.

Heritage Audio MIX BUDDY: Finally, a Mixer Designed for Instruments
Most compact mixers are built around microphone and line-level inputs, often treating electronic instruments as an afterthought. The Heritage Audio MIX BUDDY takes a completely different approach by putting instrument-level sources at the centre of its design.

With an impressive 19 inputs and 8 outputs, the MIX BUDDY provides a dedicated solution for connecting synthesizers, drum machines, samplers, guitars, basses, keyboards and even a microphone into a single desktop mixer without compromising sound quality.

Premium JFET Input Stages for Every Instrument
At the heart of the MIX BUDDY are premium Toshiba 2SK JFET input stages, offering two distinct signal paths to suit different sources.

The Hi Gain channels provide up to 12dB of gain while adding subtle analogue colour and musical saturation that works beautifully with vintage keyboards, passive basses and lower-output instruments.
The Unity channels deliver an exceptionally clean and transparent signal path, making them ideal for modern synthesizers, drum machines, samplers and active instruments.
Rather than forcing every instrument through identical circuitry, the MIX BUDDY gives each source the input stage it deserves.
Creative Routing Without Compromise
One of the MIX BUDDY‘s standout innovations is its MONO + THRU functionality.
This clever feature allows an instrument to remain in your main mix while simultaneously feeding an amplifier, external processor or front-of-house system. Whether you’re recording a pristine bass DI while driving an amp, or building elaborate parallel processing chains, the MIX BUDDY makes complex routing incredibly simple.
Built-In Microphone Preamp and Hardware Effects Integration
The integrated JFET microphone preamp offers up to 70dB of gain and seamlessly integrates with the unit’s stereo AUX effects loop.
This allows vocalists to process microphones directly through guitar pedals – including delay, reverb, chorus, distortion and octave effects – without requiring complicated routing or additional hardware.
Combined with flexible pre/post-fader AUX routing and true parallel processing, the MIX BUDDY opens up a wealth of creative possibilities for both studio and live performance.

Dual Master Outputs for Ultimate Flexibility
The MIX BUDDY also features two independent balanced master outputs.

The primary output utilises Heritage Audio‘s transformer-balanced Class A 73 DI circuitry, delivering the warmth, depth and character that analogue enthusiasts love.
Meanwhile, the second transformerless output provides an ultra-clean, transparent signal ideal for monitoring, recording or feeding separate destinations.
Heritage Audio TUBESTRIP: An Entire Premium Recording Chain in One Unit
If the MIX BUDDY is designed to organise and route your instruments, the Heritage Audio TUBESTRIP is built to capture them at their absolute best.

Rather than assembling multiple pieces of outboard gear, the TUBESTRIP combines four premium analogue processors into one cohesive all-tube recording channel.
The result is a complete solution for tracking vocals, guitars, bass, drums, acoustic instruments, keyboards and virtually any other source.

A Truly Unique MORPH Tube Preamp
The recording chain begins with the innovative MORPH tube preamp.
Unlike traditional preamps, MORPH allows you to blend between Triode, UltraLinear and Pentode operating modes, giving you access to a wide range of tonal personalities – from warm and smooth through to bold, aggressive and everything in between.
With up to 60dB of gain, it comfortably accommodates microphones, line-level equipment and direct instrument inputs.
Legendary TYPE 69-Inspired Equalisation
Following the preamp is an inductor-based equaliser inspired by the highly regarded late-1960s British TYPE 69 console EQ.
Designed for musical rather than surgical equalisation, it makes it easy to add warmth, presence, focus or weight while preserving the natural character of the source.

Two Compressors Working Together
The TUBESTRIP doesn’t stop at one compressor.
Its VARI-MU compressor – derived from Heritage Audio‘s acclaimed LANG P.Lane design – adds rich analogue density while maintaining excellent transient response.
Following this is a smooth OPTICAL compressor that delivers the classic character associated with legendary optical compressors, while also offering a transparent de-essing mode with adjustable frequency control for taming vocal sibilance.
Together, these processors create an incredibly polished, mix-ready sound before the signal even reaches your audio interface.
Premium Components Throughout
From input to output, the TUBESTRIP maintains a completely all-tube signal path.
It employs carefully selected NOS tubes, JJ output tubes, four custom-made transformers, an internal universal power supply and a rugged 3RU chassis, resulting in a professional recording tool built for years of demanding studio use.

Two Different Products. One Shared Philosophy.
Although the MIX BUDDY and TUBESTRIP are designed for different roles, they share the same engineering philosophy.
Both prioritise exceptional analogue sound quality, intuitive workflows and premium components over unnecessary complexity.
The MIX BUDDY streamlines instrument mixing, routing and live performance, while the TUBESTRIP delivers world-class analogue recording and signal processing in a single unit.
Whether you’re expanding a home studio, upgrading a professional recording environment or building a sophisticated live rig, these two new Heritage Audio releases offer outstanding performance, flexibility and analogue character that will inspire your creativity for years to come.
