Heba Kadry and the MBP + MBT

Ever since the Master Bus Transformer was announced, we’ve heard the same questions a number of times: “What’s the deal with the Color Comp?” “Don’t you already make a bus compressor?” “Does this replace the MBP?”
Mastering Engineer Heba Kadry (Björk, Sufjan Stevens, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Big Thief) has owned the Master Buss Processor for about eight years. Hear her thoughts on using compression for color – not just dynamic range control – and why her new MBT is “the guy that brings the vibe to the party.”

Atomic Sound and the 5088 Studio Tour

Located in the Red Hook neighborhood of Brooklyn, NY, Atomic Sound is a studio in which we instantly felt at home from the moment we first walked in. In addition to the incredibly gracious host and studio owner Merle Chornuk, the studio’s high ceilings, multiple skylights, tape machines, EMT 140s, and 48-input 5088 console make it somewhere we’d personally love to make a record.
Join us for a tour of this beautiful studio, and learn about the building’s history: from its start as Brooklyn’s first fire station in the 1840s to a world-class recording studio built with reclaimed wood from barns upstate (and from a rock star’s apartment renovation).
