McDSP – Let’s Talk APB Specs!
For the folks who need to know the specifications for the APB, this is the newsletter for you. Read on fellow nerdy number crunchers !!
Frequency Response
The APB hardware frequency response is almost completely flat all the way from 10 Hz to 20 kHz. Just how flat? On the order of +/-0.005 dB !! Frequency response barely drops -0.2 dB at 20 kHz, and is only down -3 dB at 52 kHz !!! This amazing frequency response ensures a high-quality signal and allows the APB to generate lots of higher order harmonics when saturated in the analog domain. And because the APB is an analog process, the higher order harmonics will not be aliased back down into the audible range of frequencies and degrade sound quality.
Signal to Noise Ratio
A high quality analog system needs to be quiet when not in use, and the APB delivers !! The APB hardware S/N is better than 113 dB, A-Weighted. Measured @ 1kHz, BW: 20 Hz to 20 kHz. Analog processing at its finest !!
More Specs
The APB operates at a THD+N of 0.02% at 1 kHz. The maximum level of analog signal in the APB analog system is +22 dBu. All control automation is sample accurate. Session recall is instant. All processed signals are completely in sync with your DAW thanks to the APB tracking and reporting its latency no matter how you configure it. Each APB-16 and APB-8 is even self calibrating!! Analog gear that takes care of itself ?? Yes !!!!
