OVERVIEW

The Lindell Audio LiN76 MkII builds on the success of the original LiN76 with a series of updates developed from four years of customer feedback and feature requests. At its core is a versatile 76-style compressor capable of everything from gentle, transparent programme compression to aggressive, pulsing drum processing. Its traditional 76 control scheme provides variable attack and release times, including ultra-fast settings, while five compression modes – 4:1, 8:1, 12:1, 20:1 and All-Buttons-In – provide extensive control over dynamics and character.

The LiN76 MkII takes a “best of all worlds” approach to its analogue architecture, combining elements inspired by multiple classic 76 circuit revisions. Its input stage draws on the clean preamplification characteristics of the classic Rev. G and Rev. D designs, while the compression stage incorporates a FET selected for its tone character and a custom-made transformer designed for Lindell Audio. The output stage takes inspiration from the Rev. A circuit, known for becoming noticeably dirty when pushed, allowing the compressor to move from clean and controlled to gritty and colourful depending on how its input and output stages are driven.

The MkII also introduces a redesigned compression circuit with higher performance and low noise, along with a new internal power supply and IEC cable that eliminates the need for a bulky external power supply. True bypass makes A/B comparisons fast and straightforward, while an RCA stereo-link connection allows two LiN76 MkII units to operate as a balanced, matched stereo pair. A new meter calibration control provides additional flexibility for fine-tuning VU meter performance, making the LiN76 MkII a refined and highly versatile addition to professional studio setups.

Custom-Made Transformer

A custom-made transformer is used within the compressor circuit, contributing to the unit’s analogue character and helping provide a broad range of tonal possibilities.

Five Compression Ratio Modes

Selectable 4:1, 8:1, 12:1 and 20:1 ratios provide conventional dynamics control, while the All-Buttons-In mode delivers a more aggressive and characterful compression response.

True Bypass

True bypass allows the compressor to be quickly removed from the signal path, making A/B comparisons of processed and unprocessed signals simple and immediate.

Matched Stereo Linking

Two LiN76 MkII units can be linked for balanced, matched stereo operation using the dedicated RCA stereo-link connection.

Ultra-Fast Attack & Variable Release

Variable attack and release controls provide flexible dynamics shaping, including ultra-fast attack settings for controlling sharp transients and creating more aggressive compression effects.

Vintage-Style VU Meter

The vintage-style VU meter provides visual monitoring of compressor operation, while the new meter calibration control allows fine-tuning of meter performance.

Integrated Power Supply
