Vermona BASS|DRUM – Analog Bass and Drum Generator
OVERVIEW
Analog drum synthesis has always played a central role for Vermona. This is impressively demonstrated by the almost 30-year success story of the DRM1, which they have been producing in almost unchanged form in their Elektroakustische Manufaktur in Erlbach since the mid-1990s.
With BASS|DRUM, they have transferred the sonic foundation of its KICK and DRUM instrument channels to the Eurorack format. They reworked the existing circuitry in key areas to optimise it for the modular context. The result is an Eurorack sound generator that clearly reveals its origins and at the same time surpasses them many times over.
The modulation possibilities of BASS|DRUM offer enormous flexibility. Many parameters, like the pitch of the oscillator, the decay time, and the integrated wave shaper, can be controlled by external voltages. For example, you can create rhythmically alternating long and short or low and high kicks or tonal variations by modulating the waveform.
Use the DYNAMIC input to control the amount of force your trigger source applies to the internal circuitry of BASS|DRUM. This not only changes the volume, but also many different nuances of the sound.
Bass or drum? BASS|DRUM can do both, without compromise. If you need drum sounds that follow the tuning of your music, you’ll find what you’re looking for here. At the same time, the module serves as a full-featured audio oscillator that can be used to create bass lines or melodies.
From deep, powerful bass drums, toms and tom-toms to high-frequency pings and percussive chirps – no problem with BASS|DRUM! In combination with other modulation sources, this spectrum can be extended infinitely. The module is also an excellent oscillator for anything other than classic analog drum sounds.
KEY HIGHLIGHTS
Analog Drum Heritage in Eurorack Form
Built on decades of analog drum expertise, this module translates classic synthesis principles into a modern Eurorack format while expanding sonic possibilities far beyond its origins.
Dual-Function Sound Generator
BASS|DRUM operates as both a dedicated drum voice and a full audio oscillator, capable of producing everything from punchy kicks to melodic bass lines.
Extensive Voltage Control
Pitch, decay, waveform shaping, and dynamic response can all be modulated via CV, enabling highly expressive and evolving rhythmic or tonal variations.
Dynamic Performance Shaping
The DYNAMIC input allows nuanced control over how hard the module is triggered, influencing not just volume but the overall character of each sound.
Wide Sonic Range
From deep sub kicks and toms to high-frequency percussive tones and synthetic pings, the module delivers a broad palette for experimental and traditional synthesis.
