Built around two D100K capsule platforms with independent FloFET™ circuitry for each output signal, the NU-880K delivers exceptional transient response, natural off-axis consistency and outstanding signal integrity. Equivalent to two perfectly matched NU-100K microphones housed within a single body, it enables seamless transitions between recording techniques without changing microphones or compromising sonic quality.

Native B-Format Surround Recording

The NU-880K captures audio using a native B-format configuration with three outputs (WXY). This allows the full spatial sound field to be recorded, providing maximum flexibility when shaping the final microphone patterns during production.

One Microphone, Multiple Virtual Microphones

From a single recording, engineers can generate multiple virtual microphones, including mono cardioid, stereo pairs, Blumlein configurations, or full surround setups. This dramatically expands creative possibilities without requiring multiple microphones.

Post-Production Pattern and Angle Control

Using a dedicated plugin or simple mixing, the pickup pattern and aiming direction can be adjusted after the recording is complete. This allows engineers to refine microphone placement and spatial perspective during mixing.
