UNDERTONEAUDIO MPDI-4 FOUR-CHANNEL MICROPHONE PREAMP
THE POWER OF FLEXIBILITY AND CONTROL
Created by Eric Valentine’s UnderToneAudio, the MPDI-4 is a mic pre for audio enthusiasts who like to have lots of control over the recording process. With a limitless amount of options for developing different sounds, this single rack space unit actually has four individual mic pre/DI circuits. Each input is versatile and can be used as a ¼” or XLR connection to make plugging in that much easier.
VINTAGE MEETS NEW
With the goal of creating a preamp that matches classic consoles, while still offering digital audio cleanliness, UTA has brought a wide sonic palette to the table. Utilizing the same pre amp circuitry as their signature mic pre featured in the MPEQ-1, this new innovation builds off the original with some added extra special features. Thanks in part to a plethora of front panel options, the unit is capable of creating everything from organic distortion to crisp, clean audio with maximum headroom/minimum harmonic distortion.
FRONT PANEL GLORY
The MPDI-4 is one preamp that can fit into any studio situation. The output transformer is bypass-able via a switch on the front panel (instead of having an alternate output on the back), while a “load” switch adds extra harmonic coloration to the circuit. Via the unit’s output pad, engineers can drop the level by 10dB, making it possible to hit the mic pre harder and not clip digitally on your DAW. The traditional Mic Gain rotary switch offers gain in 5dB steps from -10 dB to -60db.
