The Burl Audio BAD8 is an eight-channel analog-to-digital daughter card for the company’s B80 and B16 Mothership chassis. Following on the heels of Burl Audio’s successful B2 Bomber and the BAD4, the BAD8 incorporates over a quarter century of converter design expertise. The BAD8 employs state-of-the-art analog circuitry and analog-to-digital conversion in a no-compromise design utilizing a Class A, discrete-transistor signal path and Burl’s acclaimed BX1 transformer-coupled input. Leveraging the BX1 transformer’s form factor to allow for higher channel density, the BAD8 delivers natural, highly detailed sound with vanishingly low latency.

Burl Audio’s series of A/D and D/A converters sound strikingly close to an analog tape machine’s front end, with the ability to shape your tone based on how hot your signals hit the converters. They sound more like a world-class analog front end than anything on the market, as well as providing digital conversation that’s as precise, rich, and detailed as possible. Each A/D converter channel is transformer balanced, and the hotter the signal level the more saturated the signal becomes.
