Telefunken M81 – Universal Dynamic Microphone • Satin Chrome
OVERVIEW
The Telefunken M81’s flat frequency response and exceptional midrange clarity make it a go-to for brass, toms, and guitar amps on the stage and in the studio.
The M81 is a proven choice for countless sound sources both in the studio and on the stage. It possesses the same condenser-like response, minimal proximity effect, and superior feedback rejection one expects from a TELEFUNKEN Dynamic Series microphone. A smooth frequency response, clarity, and wealth of body make the M81 an ideal tool for taming brighter vocals and guitar tones, and fattening up toms, horns, or other thinner-sounding sources. Built around a low-mass diaphragm designed to reduce proximity effect, and a custom-wound impedance matching transformer, the M81 features intelligent design and American-assembled construction, making it an excellent first-choice dynamic for most situations.

REVIEWS
Mark Dowdle – Steely Dan FOH:
“It can be very difficult to obtain the kind of clarity and placement on backing vocals that is required while mixing precision-based material, particularly when the mics are used in conjunction with traditional wedge monitors. The TELEFUNKEN M81 vocal mics produce such a smooth quality vocal range while maintaining an isolated, somewhat remote characteristic to the backing vocals that I was able to place them in the mix with pinpoint accuracy. I believe this was due to the inherent rejection of ambient interference of the stage across the board.”
