KEY HIGHLIGHTS
PEEK Performance Drivers
The 40 mm PEEK Performance Drivers offer a smooth and balanced 2 Hz – 23.5 kHz frequency response, a 112.5 dB high max. SPL, and low distortion. They are combined with a lightweight neodymium magnet system for crystal-clear sound and are tested during production and assembly to achieve a stereo-matched result.
What is PEEK and why does it matter?
In the world of diaphragms, light weight and stiffness are key. Without these qualities, a driver can be too heavy to be efficiently driven by the electrical signal coming via the voice coil and magnet. Alternatively, it can be too flexible, which can result in muddy performance and distortion at certain frequencies.
Polyether Ether Ketone (also known as PEEK) is considered to be an excellent driver material for dynamic headphones due to its thermal characteristics, which result in a lower “glass transition point” (the point at which a material solidifies). This means it is more rigid and can retain its advantageous weight and stiffness properties in a wider range of applications, especially when pushed at higher temperatures where cheaper materials such as PET would start to deform.
Neodymium Magnet System
As with diaphragm construction, the choice of material for the magnets also has a tangible bearing on driver performance. Both in terms of weight and ability to efficiently transmit electrical signals into physical movements, Neodymium is the top choice for high-quality headphone drivers.
Headphone Utility DAW Plugin
Built specifically for the H200 in collaboration with Sonnox, the ADAM Audio Headphone Utility plug-in is designed to sit on the master or monitoring channel of DAWs. It offers a range of optimisation tools and the Externalisation feature that employs advanced crossfeed techniques to better translate loudspeaker mixes to headphones.
The ADAM Audio Headphone Utility DAW plug-in is available for registered H200 customers as a free download in the MyADAM user area.

Earpad Selector
The H200 ships with faux leather earpads, with a soft cloth option available as a separate accessory. As these materials have different acoustical properties, the Headphone Utility features two equalization curves so you can always enjoy a consistent, reliable output no matter which earpad you prefer to use.
Voicings
The Headphone Utility plug-in offers two voicings that ADAM Audio A Series and S Series customers may already be familiar with.
“Pure” is a highly accurate and neutral-sounding option. This is the “flat” setting, ideal for mixing, mastering, and critical listening applications where you really must be aware of all the details and rely on an honest representation from your headphones.
“UNR” or “Uniform Natural Response™” is a dynamic, natural-sounding response curve of ADAM Audio’s own design, which stems from a variety of iconic ADAM Audio legacy products, including the AX Series. It lends itself to production, composition and songwriting as its engaging and present sound can give you more room for creativity and flow. It is also a great option whenever you want to use your headphones simply to enjoy some good music.

Gain Compensation
The Earpad Selector works by equalizing frequencies across the H200’s reproduction range to achieve the target response regardless of the earpad in use. As human hearing is naturally more perceptive to changes in certain bands, false perceptions of the overall sound can occur when equalizations are applied. Gain compensation solves this problem by maintaining a consistent perceived output level, regardless of the equalization that has been made.
- Equal Loudness
First presented in 1933, the Fletcher & Munsen curves illustrate how the ear is naturally more sensitive to changes in volume at low and high frequency bands. As these bands are attenuated by the Earpad Selector, the Equal Loudness setting can be used to preserve the overall perception of output loudness to the listener and prevent misguided mix decisions.
- Safe Mode
Safe Mode applies the same principles as the Equal Loudness setting; however, it does so by only applying negative gain. This setting is useful at higher monitoring levels where the gain compensations used when applying equal loudness could result in clipping.
- Off
This mode applies zero gain compensation and differs from the Bypass option as the equalization applied by the Earpad Selector is still active.
Externalization
An inherent aspect of headphone design is the unnatural representation of stereo sound when compared to loudspeakers. This is because the left and right ears are exclusively presented with the left and right channels, unlike with loudspeaker monitoring where both ears hear some amount of both channels. The Externalization feature uses advanced crossfeed techniques to offer a more natural representation of loudspeaker monitoring.
- What is Crossfeed?
At its core, crossfeed involves adding carefully considered amounts of the left channel to the right channel, and vice versa. The Externalization feature was built specifically for the H200 and employs bespoke crossfeed across its reproduction range for a more seamless transition from loudspeaker monitoring to headphones. It is particularly useful for mixing applications when you are likely to misjudge left-right pans after prolonged loudspeaker use.
- Disable During Render
The Externalization feature is designed for the mixing process to present a more natural feeling of stereo sound. It should be disabled during renders as the audience will not experience the audio through the same monitoring setup. Instead, the Externalisation feature encourages users to make better mix decisions that will translate to natural stereo environments.
About Sonnox
Sonnox is a market-leading audio software company devoted to designing innovative, high-quality audio processing plug-ins. The award-winning Oxford Plugins are used by professionals worldwide for mixing music, film, television, radio, and live sound.
Modular Components
With dual-sided cable connectivity, exchangeable earpads and headband padding, and a high-quality carry bag, the H200 was designed with decades of use in mind.
Maintainable & Replaceable
The headband will undergo a lot of stress during its lifetime and can easily acquire dirt from wear and transport. Should the padding ever require maintenance or replacement, users can relax knowing it can easily be done. The easy-off design makes this task simple vs some other headphones where several tools and disassembly steps are required. Others may not even allow replacing components.
Dual-Sided Connectivity
The audio cable can be attached on either the left or right side using the carefully angled and concealed 2.5 mm input jack with a locking collar mechanism. This allows convenient connections to source equipment no matter where it is located in your listening environment, and is particularly useful in recording applications where one or both hands may be required for performance.
High-Quality Detachable Cable
The provided detachable audio cable is 3 m in length and was chosen for its durability, flexibility, and low mechanical noise. It terminates with a 3.5 mm TRS connection, plus a 6.3 mm (¼” jack) adapter is also included. A spiralled (1.5 m – 3 m) cable and short straight (1.2 m) cable are available as separate accessories.
Safe Transportation
The H200 comes with a high-quality carry bag with ADAM Audio insignia, plush interior, and colour-matched drawstring to keep your headphones safe while on-the-go.
Durable Headband & Anodised Aluminum Yoke
Developed for strength and durability, the H200 headband components offer a firm but not excessive clamping force. The specially formed internal design enables a linear opening action and comfortable fit for the widest possible range of head sizes.
Built for Comfort, Built to Last
Subjected to stringent testing throughout design and production, the headband is a key part of the intersection between comfort and acoustics, having a direct impact on both.
The H200 strikes the optimal balance between achieving the proper acoustic seal and delivering sustained user comfort for extended listening sessions. The headband has been designed to offer a progressive opening curve, avoiding deformation and maintaining a comfortable and secure fit.
The results speak for themselves – the H200 has some of the best in-class passive isolation properties which enable it to perform so well as a closed-back headphone.
Memory Foam Ear Pads
The H200 ships with memory foam earpads for a moulded fit and maximum comfort over long listening sessions.
Memory Foam
Over time, the memory foam earpads will adapt to the shape of your ear and surrounding head for the best possible fit. As well as improving the isolation of the headphones from external noise, it ensures the headphones remain comfortable during prolonged periods of use.
Comfort In Isolation
The earpads work together with the clamping force of the headband to provide excellent isolation for recording or when working in noisy environments.
Soft Cloth Bundle
Available as a separate accessory, the soft cloth earpad and headband bundle is an alternative that some users may prefer. The difference in acoustic properties between the faux leather and soft cloth options can be compensated for using the Headphone Utility plug-in.
Internal Airflow Technology
The carefully considered architecture and materials of the earcups resulted in a patent-pending design for reference-grade audio reproduction.
Controlled Bass Response
The meeting of premium materials with expert design helped us to formulate patent-pending internal airflow technology. This combination provides a distinctly controlled low-end response and contributes to achieving the overall performance benchmark.
Advanced Acoustic Tuning
Taking the sound of a properly calibrated S Series loudspeaker as our starting point, the H200’s acoustic fingerprint was sculpted through numerous rounds of user perception and acoustic optimisation testing. The result of this is a headphone that sounds exactly as we intended it to.
