The Footprint®02 Gen2 continues the evolution of Barefoot Sound’s acclaimed monitor lineup, delivering the same high-performance DNA as the flagship models in a more compact and accessible form. While the original Footprint®02 carved out its place as the mid-sized solution in the Footprint® series, the Gen2 takes things further with reengineered drivers, updated DSP, and refined cabinet acoustics, all designed to offer stunning accuracy and sonic integrity in smaller studio spaces.

Like its larger sibling, the Footprint®02 Gen2 features a fully tri-amplified 3-way system with dedicated Class D amplification for each driver. A powerful 1-inch dual-ring radiator tweeter, a precision-engineered 5-inch aluminum cone midrange, and dual 6.5-inch aluminum cone Dual-Force™ Technology woofers work together to deliver seamless crossover transitions, improved transient response, and high output with minimal distortion. Each component has been upgraded for enhanced linearity, deeper low-end extension, and sharper midrange clarity, making the Gen2 ideal for mixing, mastering, and immersive setups where space efficiency matters.

At the core of the Footprint®02 Gen2 is Barefoot’s patented SPOC™ (SPectrally Optimized Conversion) technology, which places analog filtering ahead of digital conversion for improved signal-to-noise ratio, greater resolution, and more transparent high-frequency reproduction. Combined with a new low-latency DSP engine, the result is more precise imaging, extended bass, and accurate real-world translation.

The cabinet design has also been refined with increased internal volume, optimized damping, and enhanced rigidity, all housed in the signature sealed MDF enclosure finished in Barefoot’s iconic textured gray coating. This rugged, elegant design ensures clean, tight low-end performance without the artifacts often introduced by ported systems.

The Footprint®02 Gen2 also features Barefoot’s MEME™ (Multi Emphasis Monitor Emulation) Technology, enabling you to instantly switch between multiple reference speaker types from consumer speakers to vintage mix cubes without changing your monitoring position.

Tri-Amplified 3-Way Architecture

The Footprint®02 Gen2 is a fully tri-amplified system, featuring dedicated Class D amplifier modules for each driver:

• 60W for the 1″ dual ring radiator tweeter
• 200W for the 5″ aluminum cone midrange driver
• 200W for the dual 6.5″ aluminum cone woofers

This architecture ensures excellent headroom, low distortion, and precise crossover transitions at 180 hertz and 3700 hertz, delivering smooth, balanced clarity from 38 hertz to 42 kilohertz.

The newly designed 1-inch dual ring radiator tweeter, now featuring a signature aluminum-colored cone, incorporates a low-distortion motor and a rear waveguide chamber to enhance transient response and imaging. Its compact, high-output design delivers detailed high-frequency reproduction with clarity and control, even at higher listening levels.

Midrange

The 5-inch aluminum cone midrange driver delivers focused vocal and instrumental detail. Engineered for high linearity and low distortion, it provides excellent phase coherence and midrange accuracy, making it essential for critical mixing.

Woofers

Dual 6.5-inch aluminum cone Dual-Force™ Technology woofers form the foundation of the Footprint®02 Gen2’s low-end response. Built with low-distortion motors and optimized for use in a sealed enclosure, they offer tight, punchy bass with smooth rolloff, reaching a -3 dB point at 38 hertz.

Advanced DSP with SPOC™ Technology

At the core of the Gen2 is Barefoot’s patented SPOC (SPectrally Optimized Conversion) system. This innovative technology introduces analog crossover filtering before the A/D stage, allowing high frequencies to pass into the DSP unattenuated. This results in:
