Royer Labs SF-2 Ribbon Microphone – Matched Pair
The Royer Labs SF-2 is a high-sensitivity, phantom-powered active ribbon microphone designed for classical and acoustic instrument applications. An evolution of the original SF-1, the SF-2 delivers condenser-level output with a sensitivity of -38 dB, ideal for use with standard microphone preamps. Its active electronics and custom FET design provide ultra-quiet performance with self-noise below 18 dB, ensuring pristine sound capture.
With a wide, flat frequency response and low-mass 1.8-micron ribbon element, the SF-2 captures remarkable detail and transient response. The proprietary magnet/pole piece structure, using Neodymium magnets, guarantees consistent frequency response with negligible off-axis coloration. The SF-2’s low-impedance output allows for long cable runs with minimal signal loss, while its balanced head amplifier system ensures a perfect load on the ribbon at all times for optimized sound performance.
