Wolff Audio Console ST-40-A – 40-Channel Analog Console w/ FX Returns, 40 Wolff Audio Preamps, 40 FREQ EQs & Fader Automation
OVERVIEW
The Wolff Audio Console ST‑40‑A expands the capabilities of the flagship ST-40 console by integrating advanced flying-fader automation for modern production workflows. Designed by renowned console engineer Paul Wolff, it combines classic analog tone with the precision and recall capabilities demanded by today’s mixing environments.
Like the ST-40, the ST-40-A features 40 Wolff microphone preamps and 40 FREQ EQ modules, providing clean and musical signal capture across all channels. Its balanced internal architecture ensures low noise and massive headroom, while the console’s routing flexibility allows engineers to manage complex tracking and mixing sessions with ease.
The addition of THD Labs-designed automation introduces fully automated 100mm flying faders and mute automation, enabling engineers to create dynamic mixes with precision and recallability. With relative and absolute automation modes and optional DAW control integration, the ST-40-A bridges the gap between traditional analog mixing and modern digital workflows.
“We share an obsessively crazy commitment to creating the best tools you never imagined” — Paul Wolff
KEY HIGHLIGHTS
Fully Automated Flying Faders
The ST-40-A features professional flying-fader automation designed by THD Labs, enabling precise mix automation with recallable fader and mute movements.
Classic Analog Console Architecture
At its core, the console delivers the same pristine analog signal path and sonic character that define the ST Series consoles designed by Paul Wolff.
40 Preamps and 40 FREQ EQ Modules
Each channel includes a Wolff microphone preamp and FREQ EQ module, providing detailed signal capture and flexible tonal shaping.
Hybrid DAW Workflow Integration
Automation faders can function as controllers for supported digital audio workstations, bridging analog mixing with modern DAW workflows.
Customisable Tone Cards and Modular Design
Engineers can shape the console’s summing character using interchangeable tone cards, while the modular bucket design allows full customisation and future expansion.
